Becoming smarter and more innovative is one of the goals of Juazeiro do Norte, state of Ceará. In order to do that, the government of the city entered into a partnership for using Bright Cities, a platform created by the CEO of Bright Consulting, Raquel Cardamone, with technology developed by Action Labs. The tools is capable of identifying and suggesting solutions that can improve people’s quality of life, as well as the quality of public services and the management of the city.

The platform uses an exclusive methodology, which consists of the identification of the city’s issues regarding glogal indicators, and it diagnoses the main challenges, and then it presents ways to solve such problems based on previously defined schedules and budget. This diagnosis includes areas such as Education, Environment, Health, Safety, Mobility and Entrepreneurship.

The work with Juazeiro do Norte started in August and, by the end of October, the city became the first Brazilian city to receive a full diagnosis by Bright Cities, including an individualized plan of solutions with projects that can be carried out, estimated costs, deadlines and a list of priority.

Just like Juazeiro do Norte, the city of Aracaju (SE) is also searching for efficient and innovative solutions for the problems they face. In October, the government of Aracaju signed a partnership agreement with Bright Cities.

The city has 650 thousand inhabitants and it will receive a full diagnosis from the platform. The diagnosis is achieved after data collection and analysis based on indicators and case studies, and after this a predictive analysis is built for predicting possible problems. Then, actions are suggested and possible results of these actions are listed. It is a guide for making the city smarter.
